Meditation and Mindfulness

Meditation and Mindfulness are the Keys to a Happier You!

We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves. Dalai Lama

Meditation is scientifically proven to lower your blood pressure, slow aging and reduces rates of heart attacks. Meditation reduces anxiety and emotional stress.    Can this make a happier you? ABSOLUTELY!

Taking 5-10-20 minutes, twice a day, to clear your mind of thoughts is one of the MOST effective ways I have found to be able to focus better all day, release negative and racing thoughts and be a better person.

A couple of my close friends have confessed that they feel they just can’t sit still for 10 minutes and concentrate on nothing.  I admit, it is not easy.  It takes a discipline.  Many people assume meditation is just for “relaxing”.  Meditation is so much more than this!  It is a stepping stone into figuring out your inner self, understanding how and why you react the way you do.  Meditation is a tool to use to slow down, take time to smell the roses, to stop letting constant thought tie your Qi up knots.

After researching meditation techniques, I learned that the thoughts coming and going in your mind, happens, and is part of the process and that is okay. As long as they don’t linger, and you start racing through random thoughts.

Example:  Oh this is nice, breath in, breath out, oh I forgot to pick up oranges, oh oranges are so high, oh the fires in California, oh global warming going to kill us all…. an so on and so on.

You are to observe the thoughts and let them pass and return to concentrating on your breathing and some people also use a Mantra. With continued practice, you will be able to cease these entering thoughts more and more. There are some really good, how to videos on YouTube to begin learning.

I can tell you from personal experience that meditation and learning to be mindful and compassionate in your everyday life, CHANGES EVERYTHING!

Beginning each day with a moment of gratitude clears negative energy so you can begin your day fresh.

Meditation is not a cure all, by no means. But it is a good way to start getting back to basics. Freeing yourself from all of the negative thoughts and emotions that burden you.
